7.3 Question

I know this is in the wrong section but, sometimes when I put my truck in reverse it starts loping heavily and hopping for probably 2 seconds then returns to normal idle. What causes this, is it a transmission issue? 2000 7.3 Auto

transmission range sensor is probably faulty, tells the computer that it is in a gear other than what it actually is
