[QUOTE="Rob D, post: 924333, member: 705"] For the thousands of trucks running ARPs, guys aren't going to jump on forums and post about how their studs are running fine - majority of threads are about when things go wrong. These forums can therefore dramatize issues like this. Additionally - details about every failure are not always given - for example, type of gasket used, if the heads were machined, if emissions equipment is still on the truck, installation errors with lube or torque sequencing etc. Any one of these, along with several other things, could be the cause of a gasket failure and not the stud. For the average guy, staying at home around 450-500HP, you should not have any issues with an ARP stud. If planning on being in that very small % of truck owners who go with bigger air and fuel then spend the extra cash for added assurance. Again, this is a competition forum so it dramatizes the amount of trucks which have these type of upgrades as compared to the amount of diesel owners actually out there riding stock or moderately modded. The main attraction of the extreme studs to me for the average guy which would make the higher price point worth it, even if not planning on doing a crazy build, would be less stress on the block thanks to lower torque needed while still achieving greater clamping. This is a very simple principal that to me makes a whole lot of sense. Anyway just figured I would try to bring some insight to newer members who might view these threads on studs and gasket failures, or guys who already have ARPs and don't want to wonder if they made a bad choice.
