After being around the forums for several years and getting to become good friends with a lot of the guys "in the know" there are definitely products or installs that happen that don't go as planned and the general forum population never finds out about it. It was more a general statement and I guess I was just thinking out loud. These stud threads pop up every once in a while, and it's not a complicated part but there's so much misinformation spread around it's silly. People torquing beyond recommended specs, with no valid reason to do so other than "bigger is better!" Truth is ARP's will be just fine for most. The extreme studs are going to be less forgiving, which works both ways. Less forgiving (due to tensile strength) means you can't just ramp up torque values to make you feel better, they will break easier (more brittle). However, it also means there will be less stretch on the stud when under max boost and cylinder pressures, so the gasket should hold better, in theory. If the money is there, I wouldn't hesitate to use a higher tensile strength stud, knowing what I know now, and I agree with those saying a lot of these failures ARE due to the install jobs. No stud will correct for a poor install.
