Bad ECM

Ok so my truck has a crank, no start, no smoke, I threw no codes, unplugged ICP, FICM checks out, I had the shop next door hook it up to there $25k car diagnosing gizmotron.

The said it was a bad ECM, the reason I'm having a hard time believing them is they instantly blamed my SCT tuner, the reason I think they may be right is that I may have welded on it with the battery connected (I unhooked the ground every time I have ever welded on it except that one time) after I welded on it I drove it home (2 miles) parked it then, nothing, she would not start the next day.

So, I'm hoping one of you 6.0 geniuses can help me out, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Also, if I have access to another PCM, it's out a wrecked truck same year, it was a lariat and mine is an XL, can I swap it without issue (tuner being VIN locked, or some other crazy unforeseen stuff)

Should be able to swap the pcms for testing. If you end up needing one ill sell you one cheap.

I assume you've checked all fuses?

How cheap is cheap? Also if the fuse was blown I would not have been able to pull codes and such? I checked the fuses but I could have missed something, I was frustrated, my truck was broke

Like $125 shipped on pcm if that doesn't sound to high. But usually when a PCM is dead it will not communicate to a scanner. I would check all fuses regardless.

Might try replacing the PCM fuse. Might have weakened it just enough that it's not getting the right amount of power. Worth a shot for a cheap fuse.

Yeah, see that's what I don't get, I can pull codes and stuff, when I unplugged my ICP it threw codes, I'll mess with it this weekend I guess

I cant recall the # for the PCM but my suggestion is still to get a test light and check all the fuses.

I have sold them to guys in the past with same optioned trucks that did not have it flashed.

I can't say that will always work but it has a few times. I'm sure it throws a soft code for a PCM vin difference, but the guys told me that the trucks run fine.

Just for reference in case you have to iirc it's around $100

Cool thanks, probably use the wrecked truck one for test, if it works, buy the one mentioned before and have it flashed to my VIN so I can run my SCT and be back on the road.

Thanks for the help fellas, hope to have some updates soon.

So I actually talked to the guy today, he said the PCM, would not communicate with it, so I'm leaning towards the PCM, gonna mess with it tonight
