Batteries and alt are new less then a year and at idle test good. The batt light starts to flicker as you drive and comes on solid around 2500. Would the
Light come on for over charging? If not where do I start

It could be an over charging issue or it could be a low charge. You are saying that it happens as the engine speed increases correct? It is possible that the belt is slipping. You need to watch what the Alternator is putting out through out the power band. How are your lights, etc. when this happens? Do they dim down? Take a look at some of those things and see what you get.

i had the same problem with my truck, replaced the alternator. kept coming on, then changed both battery's (previous owner only replaced one, the other was factory motorcraft). till had the flicker. turns out to be a corroded battery post.

might want to look at that.

I was having the same problem about a month ago. All the forums seemed to agree that it was my alternator. I replaced it, and everything has worked great ever since. Good Luck!

If you have a parts store alternator and not a motorcraft one, it will throw a light.

I run a parts store one and no issue... I did have to change 2 in the parking lot until I got a good one though.... just take it off and have them load test it... its more than likely a bad alternator and should be under warranty if its less than a yr old

I replaced my alternator and both batteries(brand new Napa alt and duralast batts). A couple of weeks later the battery light would flicker alittle. Slowly the light came on more and more, stayed on longer until it wouldnt go off. I took the alternator back to napa(lifetime warranty). Replaced the alternator with another brand new one. Same problem but happened even quicker. Took it back and got another new one, but this time asked a buddy who is a diesel mech whats going on. He is the mech for a cable tv company that has close to 30 6.0s in f250s 350s and 550 bucket trucks. He has seen every problem imaginenable on these trucks. He said that sometimes the prongs on the electical connector on top get spread apart making the connection not solid. Anyway about a $50 part and i was good again.
