I just got my first oil analysis back from Blackstone and they think maybe some piston scuffing. Aluminum and iron were on the high side, Al 13 and Fe was 120, ppm I'm guessing. I think 3 and 21 are avg. This was the second oil change, 6,000 miles on it, Rotella 15-40, but the first sample I sent in. So am I looking at failing piston rings or too long on the oil? I really don't want to tear into the bottom end, what else could it be?

I'll be switching to Schaeffers at my next change which will be in about 500 miles. I'll only have about 2,500 on the current oil, but I'll be putting on some new items and I just want to start fresh.

I'd say switch oil do another analysis in 5k miles and see where that leaves you. Each truck I've had I ran the oil that worked the best for that truck. My current one likes Amsoil and I'm please but I've used shaffers and rotella in the past with success.

Have you switched oil yet? If not run the Rotella till 3000 miles and sample. If you changed oils and take a another sample that info is useless or close to it. You screwed with your base line. JMO

Same oil for the reason you mentioned. I'll be installing a new turbo and some other stuff in about a week. Oil will go in for testing at about 2800 miles.
