This morning while driving to work I noticed a low humming noise coming from the passenger side dash - which got louder and then when I crank it up this afternoon it was really loud does anyone know what that could be. Possibly just the blower gone bad? How hard is it to repair?

You keep papers or any kinda chit on your dash? More often than not when there is a humming noise some stuff has gotten into the squirrel cage. Straw wrappers, post it notes, smaller pieces of paper usually do this. If i remember right, blower is under the dash bh the rh kick panel, and has 3 8mm screws holding it in. Its a tight fit getting it out, as its close to the floor, but some tetrising and moving the carpet, and it usually falls out.

It's the damn 22 shells getting in there from shooting sage rats again.:biggun: I hate when that happens.

I got it out and looked in it and there's nothing in it. Put it back in till I get another and it still makes a low humming which gets louder as it runs. Got a Motorcraft coming in the mail so I'll swap it this weekend. It's a total pain to get out. A couple screws are really back there. I had to remove the BCM and 4x4 module just to get it out.

We always used to get trucks with complaints of poor air flow from the vents, and would find a plastic grocery sack sucked up in the duct. The bearing could be bad on the blower motor.

Mine probably does more than a human as I cracked the cage when installing it. Swapped out the original that was just squeaking and made it worse of course. I have a new one to attempt to put in again.
