butterfly plate?????

got a buddy with an 04 and its got the butterfly valve under the inake elbow. i know you can take it and the old elbow and swap them both for a newer one but wasnt sure if any tuning was involved in this or not?

just unscrew the plate

i suggested that also but he wants to remove it completely if possible. i just wasnt sure if the truck would run right if he just took it off
