I have a 2000 F-350 with a 4r100 automatic in it. When you hit the switch on the shifter to take it out of overdrive it doesnt work. Has anyone else had a similar problem. I switched the button out with one in a truck that i know works.I dont know much about how it works so any help will be appreciated. where would a good place to start be?

It's a common problem. The wires have worn through where they enter the shifter handle inside the steering column.

Take the plastic cover off of the steering column. Either fix the wires where they enter the handle or replace the handle for about $50 from a dealer.

I just checked and that is exactly what the problem is! They were broken right where they go into the handle. I decided to get a new one, it was $78. Thanks for your help!
