Cleaning 05 Turbo.

my search wont work for some reason tonight. but when i start my truck up and the vgt solenoid( i guess thats what it is) makes a god awful screaching noise. does the turbo need to be taken apart and cleaned? theres no play in the shaft. can someone tell me what exactly to do to clean it?

The ones I have see that need cleaned all had boost issues(I think most had P0299 code), the unison ring and veins wouldn't move free. I cleaned a few to fix them.

i watched a video on youtube of a ford tech doing it, all he did was wire wheel all the build of up off of it.

:whs: i have a friend thats a ford tech and he just pulls the clamp off and separates the two halves and cleans it with a wire wheel and or a hand wire brush

Why not do it with the conditioning pads ? it's even part of the kit the dealer is supposed to use

wire wheels can be unpredictable
