Well today my 2011 F250 6.7 had its first issue. Bought at 150k and I have 155k on it now. I was driving home from work for about 10 minutes at mainly 60 mph and ambient temperature was 92F. All of a sudden my console dinged and said engine overheat. Coolant temperature gauge was floored. Went into limp mode. Got it pulled over. Coolant was on the underside of hood. Let it cool and was able to get home. Drove it for 10 minutes again and leak showed at seam where EGR is. EGR coolant tank and regular coolant tank are empty. Anyone had this issue?

usually doesnt happen until at least 100k , but most likely the cooler said by by . the heat of the egr flow into the tank fatigues the cast aluminum, and as so many others , they fail. at least you got it home ! let me know if you wanna waive goodbye to that bad boy.

It appears this had been an issue in this truck. Attempted to remove the egr tonight but the long pipe that must be removed had only 1 bolt holding it in! And of course it was because someone had broke off a bolt in it. It appears this egr had already been serviced or replaced. Luckily I'm deleting it.
