Did a coolant filter kit on my truck then I went to the parts store to get more coolant, but nine of the auto part stores had the ford premium gold coolant, just the generic brand coolants. From everything I've heard you can only run the motor craft stuff otherwise the coolant gels up? Is that true ? Or can I supplement another coolant? Thanks in advance for the info guys

So those coolants won't gel and plug up my oil cooler? I had heard that they couldn't take the heat, just curious

if it is getting hot enough to break that coolant down then you have other BIG problems. here are some links to check out. http://www.ehow.com/about_6726306_ethylene-vs_-propylene-glycol.html http://prestone.com/products/antifreeze_coolant/product_list#product-378 http://www.fordparts.com/Products/Chemicals-EngineProducts-Coolants.aspx gold coolant is ethylene based low toxicity, corrosion resistant, extended life with a bittering agent Organic Acid Technology "OAT" coolant is the type to be cautious about mixing

Motorcraft gold coolant is the only coolant that went in my 6.0's and it was flushed every 50K..

That's how I feel mark, I've read several issues with different coolants, I'm a little hesitant

I don't think it's any better than some of the others but they all need to be flushed at 50K to keep the oil cooler from clogging IMO..
