Greetings!
Total diesel noob here from BC (Canada).

Bought a '97 PS 7.3L back in February. After doing a bit of reading over at that other PowerStroke Forum, I did the 6637 mod but I'm kinda fearful about mucking with these things since I know so little about them.
I am currently pulling a small 19' RV, but hope to "upgrade" to about a 24' model early next year.

We took a trip through the Fraser Canyon two weekends ago and my first thought was "I'm not impressed". There is a stretch of road there known as "Jackass Hill" which is fairly steep and I was down to 30mph by the time I hit the top...this is about as good as I would do in my old 460 gasser!
My friend has a Duramax diesel and he can hit 55 on the same stretch of road with a larger trailer!
He gave me some pointers and it worked out better for me on the way home...gotta keep the revs up higher than I was!
Also wasn't impressed with my mileage ~ 14 MPG, but I had my foot into it (60 - 70 mph) all the way home!
Leaving to the same area this weekend so I'm going to try taking it a bit easier on the hi-speed stuff and pay more attention to the hills.
Funny thing about the mileage, I didn't realize how badly diesel foams when filling! So my mileage claims may be completely out to lunch, since I don't know exactly how much fuel I put in at each fillup (stopped when the nozzle "clicked" off). Tonight, I took my time and filled both tanks until I could see fuel in the filler neck! I managed to get another FIVE GALLONS into the tank after the nozzle first turned off automatically!
The needle on the fuel gauge is WAY PAST the FULL mark now and before it would just barely cover it. So now, I'll be able to measure the consumption with a bit more accuracy.

Anyhoo...I haven't got much knowledge, but I'm hoping to glean some from the more savvy types and willing to share what little I do have.

Regards.

Welcome, always good to have someone such as yourself willing to admit they dont know it all and ask for pointers when needed.

Im sure the guys who know the 7.3 will chime in and be more then willing to help you out, you'll be happy in no time.

Take care

You may want to look into some tunes these trucks are older reliable motors but stock they are very lazy. Tunes make a huge difference in drivability. You don't have to go crazy but exhaust gauges and a tune will really wake it up.

Welcome, you did fine with the 6637 filter. Get some gauges, exhaust and tunes like dentex said and it will wake it up pretty good.

OK...you'll have to humor me on this one.
What exactly do you mean by "a tune"...

Just get a banks sticker. Adds 150 hp. Kidding. I ran a superchip in mine for a few years, exhaust temps were high and transmission shifted like garbage. Recently went with a TS chip from beans and its a lot better, I'm not sure what all it entails but from what I heard they change the amount of fuel and the timing
