I've posted a thread here before about upgrades I wanted to do to 01 7.3. I was really on the right track getting the issues fixed and it was running great. Was all ready to do the fuel system, injectors, turbo and tuning. Then I had the crash. The whole front clip needed replacing. All the cookers, hood grill, and whatever else. Being from out of town I took advice to take it to a local well respected mechanic. Big nice shop several people working there. I saw some of his work, including a 68 Camaro which is one of the sharpest job I've ever saw. I bought a 01 350 for 500- the bed and 7.3 engine. Bought it and delivered to him. I asked for a price on all body work and mechanical. 1500$ including the airbags. I bought everything and delivered. Including 4 gal if motorcraft antifreeze 5 gal of distiller water. Oil cooler gaskets and orings from ford. 4 gal rotella oil. He told me for 4 weeks straight it was going in the shop the next Monday. 3 weeks ago I I I had enough and was having hauled to another mechanic and he promised he would start it. Sure enough he did. He said he would be through by Friday. I explained I needed it to take my daughter and 2 of her friends to Myrtke beach and I needed a week to make sure it would be ok. That was 3 weeks ago and today I picked it up. Airbags hanging out, didn't bother to tape out fender wells so white paint all on finder well. He hadn't even drove it to check it. The front end vibrates horrible, turbo only spooled to 10 and before it was 19. Didn't even change the windshield so it's still shattered. All the antifreeze and oil didn't get used. He didn't know what the oil cooler was. All this knowing I'm going to pick up and drive to the beach. After I filled it up with fuel this evening the turbo wouldn't spool at all and now it's parked on the side of the road.im calling a diesel mechanic I know in the area to come get it and I'm calling a lawyer. What would yall do? I'm so pissed I could could kick the **** out of him and I want to. But not my nature. I've never had to call a lawyer for anything like this. I'm not blaming g him for it dieing but the shabby work and it's condition.

Sounds like you took your truck to a body shop to have motor work done to it???? I could see having him fix the front end but why have him work on anything motor wise? sounds like he's a jack of all trades, master of none!

Well unfortunately if you paid the man and picked the truck up you agreed to take it in the condition that it was in. Its like a mini contract. You shouldn't pay or take delivery before you get a lawyer. Then you need a third party to assess what they did do or didn't. Plus if you provided the parts they just installed them, then there is no warranty on the parts or labor. You might have to sue them in civil court.

Ok! The only mechanical work he did was install the coolers as far as engine goes. He was supposed to install air bags and seat belts which he didn't do. And paint the entire cab and replace windshield. Which he didn't do. And pull frame and check suspension. Which obviously he didn't do. All the parts provided work fine. And I had a reputable diesel mechanic to pick it up and see what the issues are with whatever reason it won't run and turbo won't spool. He's had this truck since May 5th and I told him that there was not a rush on it just be rite. He gave me the price and kept giving the dates. And he also knew I was taking kids to the beach in it. Where I'm from if you say you can do it , you best produce. I asked him 4 weeks ago if he underpriced it. He said not at all just don't have the help. I was willing to pay more than 1500$ matter of fact that's half of what I was expecting. You can say you get what you pay for, well he shouldn't write a check his ass can't cash. I spoke with him on the phone and went by his shop to pick my other truck up and he was gone. He'll get paid when he has the balls to return my call. Or when a judge decides what I owe him. So far I ain't saw a bill!

He's getting paid but he won't put a tool back on my truck. And I don't know what damages he's done by putting wrong fluids in cause he didn't use the motor raft antifreeze or the rotella t oil I provided. I've spoke with an attorney and they said so far I've done exactly what I should've done to this point. Since I don't have a bill I don't know what to give. It went over a lil of the 1500 but never said how much.
I got it away from him before he could mess up anything else. The mechanic that had it now is a friend of his and if he hasn't done anything to damage my truck I'll be glad to negotiate.
If I'm in a restaurant and I don't get my food the way I asked I ain't sending it back and then eating it.

To your restaurant analogy...

If you don't get your food the you ordered it, do you take possession and try it out, then try to complain? Even if its visually not correct to begin with?

Because that's what you've described doing with your pickup...

If my truck was not the way I expected it to be and things were not done. I would not have drove off in it. Sounds like this guy was backed up with work, and your truck wasn't ready but you came and got it cause you needed it.. Since you saw that the fluids you brought were not even used, did you even check out the fluids in the truck to see if anything was added or if it was low, empty, etc??

He just called and we discussed our situation.he admitted that he screwed up. I told him when the mechanics shop has it running right I'll drive it to him and let him make it right. I suppose it freaked me a lil cause I've never had that done to me. He is a good guy I could tell that right off. And I think he s having issues in private life that's effecting his business. Thanks for the input guys. It helps to here others opinions and see things in a different perspective. Like as said " the mind is a parachute, it only works if it's open"

This is some Jerry Springer shi.... First, you're gonna kick his ass and sue him. But now, he's a good guy and will finish the work.

Here's your sign.... :morons:

Yes I felt like kicking his ass. And no I will not let him finish it. After the mechanic is done with the issues I'll get an estimate On taking apart all the pieces to be fixed and figure what to pay the guy. I'll post some pics on here and maybe it will shed some light on it.
