Early 99 to OBS...

Something gave out on my early 99 and I have pulled the engine to rebuild. In the meantime I have swapped my D66 with my brother for some other parts and we are getting ready to do the turbo swap.

I know we will need the pedestal, and up-pipes, but what about the manifolds? And anything else?

NM, just realised it was e99 to OBS, not e99 to late 99

Shouldn't need all that goin from e99 to obs... should just need up-pipes, collector, and pedestal, i've heard that the exhaust manifolds where the same and that they were different so i'm not real sure there, and the intake runners are the same.

not sure where the manifold change took place but my E99 (build date of 3/98) had the same manifold as the 99.5-03 trucks..

I just did a motor swap putting e99 into a 02 and we had to change the manifold, it was the same size as OBS.That's also why the e99 spyder is used on the OBS, fits the trubo and manifold.

You are talking about the exhaust manifold, right?

Ron I think the passenger side exhaust manifold changed on the SD, and that's the one you need for the OBS.

I've heard just the passenger side exhaust manifold is different when i looked into swapping a 38r on to my obs

The Drivers side manifold may be different.

lol not sure what side it is..but on my early 99 when i did bellow pipes with the 38R, i did not need to touch the exhaust manifolds at all...

Yea, you wouldn't need to, SD manifolds are all the same. OBS needs the passenger side SD exhaust manifold when upgrading to SD parts.
