I've got it on mine. It works good, and passes emissions as everything is still in place.

Very common thing to do. I have never really seen issues with this method personally.

The only issue I can think of, if you are doing it to pass emissions it may not work depending on where you live. You will be able to pass visual inspection, but more guys are reporting that the emissions stations are plugging into the truck and checking exhaust flow. If it is welded up there will obviously be no exhaust flow to measure. Depends on where you live.
