Wondering if aftermarket tunes still require the exhaust back pressure sensor and tube. I think that's what its called- the one in front of the hpop.

IDK my 7.3 was shooting EBP sensor codes but didnt bother me. Truck still ran fine. I'm guessing my sensor was screwed. That explains the codes.

Bump....

I also am curious. I replaced my sensor when I first got the truck and. Now I got a 470 and need to know since the truck is now tuned, if it even cares about the input. Yes I still have ebpv and it functions fine

Some tuners just set the ebp chart at 36 psi. And I know of atleast one that makes it variable.
So if the tube is missing be sure to mention it to your tuner

We've had a few discussions on this, on if it is even necessary, and if tuners even use it. It came down to all the obs guys claimed they had problems without the sensor, and some sd guys claimed it too... I personally never saw a bit of difference on my 2002, when I got rid of it for headers, mileage, shifting, power all seemed the exact same. So give your tuner a call and see what he tells you

I have been getting the dtc for ebp on my obs as well. it still seems to read fine as it is one of the sensors I monitor with Torque

The EBPV and the EBP sensor are completely unrelated.

The EBPV is simply a valve in the exhaust path of the turbo. The EBPV sensor senses temp. When it is cold, It sends a signal to the valve to open. It warms up the engine faster. Keeps the EPA happy. I have not had one in a long time, I cannot see any difference in warm up time on my engine. Course, I live in TX and 30º is really, really cold.

The EBP sensor senses back pressure in the passenger side exhaust manifold and sends its findings to the PCM. It does it's magic with these findings. Doing anything with the EBPV is not included with any of it's magic.
