Does anyone know an approximate temperature of the exhaust of a stock motor after ~8' of piping? Specifically, I'm looking for temperature at the exhaust tip not at the motor.

Theres no way to know the gas temp. Put a crude kitchen thermometer on it after you get it heatsoaked and after 20 seconds, you'll have an answer.

My exhaust dries off quick in the winter after i stop driving. Its got to be 200*

Maybe he doesn't want to use quality powder lol. If he wants to know the actual temp taping or ziptying a thermometer onto the tip and going for a typical tide or commute will tell him more. Its a specific question to his truck anyway.

My truck had painted exhaust, uppipes, and manifolds. The paint stayed on for two years. I put bigger injectors in it and the paint has cooked off. Im guessing with more fuel its getting hotter on the exhaust side.

Powder has a softening temperature of ~150F and melting at ~300F. That covers even supposed "good" powder. Hence, my question for data, not opinions.

For those who are curious, it is possible to use a non-contact laser thermometer to get an accurate temperature. I would have done it myself on my truck but I don't drive it regularly as it is not currently licensed.

If anyone has a few minutes with a non-contact laser after a routine drive in a stock truck with stock exhaust, I'd be very grateful for the data.

My cousin powder coated his stacks on his single cab obs, non intercooled with stage 2s. It could certainly run warm at times. Paint still looks as good as the day it came out of the oven.

I can put my hand on the end of my exhaust for over 5 or so seconds before it gets hot. From years working with electronics you can hold for 5 seconds at about 150-170 and you won't be able to hold it at all at 200+. This a 5 inch exhaust though and egts don't get up over 900
