I have an 04 sitting here that dosnt start well when cold and never really runs right when warmed up. I just bought an 06 that the HPOP gear went out on. Can I take the FICM from the 06 and stick on the 04 to see if it fixes the problems. Dont have a scanner to stick on it to see the voltages. Figured this might be an easy way to see if its the problem.

Yes you can use any year FICM on any year 6.0. Just swap it and see what happens.

You can check voltages with a mult-meter, you don't need a scanner. I prefer the mult-meter anyways, most scanners wont read less than 40V, since that's all the truck can see too.

If you've got a spare FICM, you can even have the other repaired while you use your spare. Or sell it... interested in selling it?

we are not limited to 40 volts via scan tool.

theres also no vin in the FICM.

if the wrong year calibration is used u0306 which is a software incompatibility code will be triggered.
