FICM Voltage

Hooked up my AE to help a buddy trouble shoot a long crank while hot issue. One thing I did notice was his FICM voltage will drop from 48 to 47 volts every couple seconds. Is this within tolerance or signs of somethig getting ready to happen?

normal, if mine is really cold i have seen 46V even which kinda scares me, but usually sits at 47.5 cruising around.

I believe Ford says anything over 45 is acceptable.

Sounds good! Looks like his truck is going to the dealer. Cranks keep getting longer and longer.

I've been told not to trust ficm voltage through AE because its been filtered too much. Any truth to that?

Any computer monitored reading will have some processing and rounding going on. Every comp just depends on how much. Your best friend will be a multimeter. Pull the cover plate off and check the voltage that way to be 100% sure. Computers are GREAT starting points and diagnostic tools.
