I've never posted here, figured I'd switch it up a little lol. But my fuel gauge is acting up and was told it's most likely the sending unit. Is the sender the sending unit itself, or something on the sending unit? I was told the sender could be the problem but was unclear if the guy was talking about the unit or a part on the unit. Or could my problem be something in the gauge? I've never dropped a tank and don't want to start now if I don't have to, so any help would be appreciated

I think it's a common problem, some guys have fixed it with the sending unit others with the gauge. Mine does it ocassionally but not enough to bother me once every 10 tanks or so. I'd say do a search and see what conditions others have seen similar to yours and how they fixed it.

After reading a sh*t load of forums about this issue, everybody is aiming towards sending unit. Was hoping the gauge because I'm sure that's cheaper, but as long as it gets fixed so I can feel comfortable driving my truck then I could care less

if i remember right if you turn the key on (dont start the truck) you can hold the trip odometer tab down and it will reset the gauges. My last '06 had the same issue and it was the sender though, not a cheap fix (i never did fix it)

Yeah I never got around to fixing it, I've just been filling it up and driving it 300-400 miles before putting more fuel in it. But your saying if it's the guage that's screwing up, it can be reset so it temporarily/permanently goes back to how it should work?

is yours stuck in one position at all times? Mine would randomly just go to low fuel and throw a CEL, then down the road go back to normal again. But yea, if it's the gauge you may be able to reset it, no promises though

Sometimes it reads full tank and other times it reads empty, but ever since I reset it like you said it's been either reading normal or sitting on full or E. And yea it had a check engine light since I got it, so I pulled the code and it was for something with the fuel level
