:whs: I would assume that as that as its the same model year (ie late 03-04, 05-07, etc) it would work bcs the wiring would be the same...but id want to know for sure before forking the cash
Truck is an 06 with some serious wiring issues. I spent last night chasing wires under the dash because half of my instruments die while driving. This it's what I found under the steering column.
whoa! someone sure was messing around under there, and wire nuts? seriously? I know they work, but keep those things in the house and use some solder/heat shrink, or crimp on but connectors.
I'm pretty sure a cluster from any 05-07 will work with your 06 truck, however I believe they might need to be programmed, dealership kinda deal. but I could be wrong.
That little black box you can kinda see on the right is some sort of security system the previous owner had installed. In all the years I have had this trick, I have never needed anything under there, so I never saw it. I don't even know where to start! I have a feeling that there will be soldering irons and shrink wrap in my near future.
You would indeed have to program the cluster at the dealer. They might be a little sketchy if the cluster going in has more miles and you want them to roll it back to your miles too. Just FYI. My buddy put a harley cluster in his truck.
I had to take the fuse block out to get to everything. That rats nest is what was hiding beneath. I have no idea what it is, but it says "bully dog" on the box. Security system? Remote start?
To my k.owledge bully dog never made any security system or remote start, they are universal tuners (sinilar to superchips) good thing you got it out, they will kill your tranny!
Good catch on the boots lol. They're great when you're flying in Iraq, but suck in the cold. Of course, I'm a crew chief...all I do is give you grunts a ride. As for the "box", thank God I got it out. It was hot to the touch which leads me to believe that is what was draining my batteries.
