What headstuds are everybody using? And is everybody using a 3/4 tq wrench for them? My 1/2 Drive torque wrench only goes up to 250.

Only 195lbft for A1/elite? Sounds awful low

They use dt compound #2 lube (peanut butter). I'm not sure why its lower other than the lube, Mine have held up fine at that tq. I just rebuilt it and I did pull them to 210this time as its the 2nd use. In the instructions on the a1's you tq them in 3 equal steps to 195, slack off, re tq 195, slack off, final tq to 195. I believe that is getting all the (stretch) out of them. Where the arp's go 110,220,325 final without slacking off, so I'm not sure what the actual final tq on them is after they (stretch).

They do that to season the threads. With that being said mine are torqued to 325 with arp lube. I'm not going to.recomend anyone else do it but my truck will puke at the a-1 specs over 70 psi of boost

I torqued my arp's to 325 yesterday. Is there an updated torque value or is that still what the sheet says? I didn't have a sheet to go by. This was with arp's newest lube

Last 6.0 I did arp's went to 210 or 220 iirc, I have never used arp on a 6.4 though. 325 would worry me with the blocks cracking like some have.

195 is for the 1722 studs. Keep in mind that a stronger stud doesn't need nearly as high of a torque number to achieve the same clamp load.

And my h-11s from elite are torqued to 215.

Makes sense didnt really think about that

As for torque wrenches a click type is best if they are not maxed out. On my snapon digital I have no problem maxing it out because it uses a load cell and should be accurate at any torque level.
