I noticed a slight smell of diesel. Popped the hood and saw diesel had been spraying out the filter. i changed the filter and went to prime the filter and notice diesel coming out of this sensor. Also the wire looks like it's frayed. I took off the wire harness and was going to take off the sensor but then decided to wait till I get one in hand and figure out exactly what needs replacing so I tried to put the harness back on and now I can't get it to snap on. Does anyone know what this sensor is and what harness this is?

It is the low pressure fuel switch. You may have to look at the pigtail book that ford has for a pigtail. I cant remember off hand what the number is.

Turns out this is a fairly common issue. The sensor fails causing diesel to spray out the connector ruining the connector. I bought the sensor which comes with a new pigtail and is an easy repair. The part number is BC3Z-9S599-C and cost about $35.
