Help! GEM missing from teuck

I bought a truck, build date 4/99, 7.3 Powerstroke, eclb, 6 speed 2 wd. The GEM module is missing from the truck, I've been looking for a used gem module but I am unsure of which part number will work. Is there some way I can figure out which one will work for my truck without buying from the dealer? I only see 2 plugs behind the fuse box that aren't plugged in, does this sound correct? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Well, it is a 99.5. Pretty sure that a 99.5 through 2001 for a standard truck will work for it. No clue on part number.

99-00 will work. 01s are different.

Several different part #s will work, but you will need one similar to your cabs configuration. If it has PW, PL, etc...


The truck will start and run fine with a different GEM then it had from factory but you may lose some options, such as keyless entry, or you could gain that option if its the right one.

There's a good chance I have the GEM you need. PM what all the truck has if you want me to get you a price.

My bad, I thought they changed in '02.
