While pulling my fuel pump and bowl I noticed the nut had fallen off a shaft coming out of the HPOP .... a solenoid slides over it with a spacer and a nut...

I found the nut and spacer in the valley .. but not sure if I have the configuration right...

Does this look right?

The truck ran fine up until I found it.... who knows when it fell off... nut was a little corroded but threads look OK

If I have the configuration right, I'll put loctite on it.

pics in next post...

If you are going to put Loctite on it, make sure it is blue Loctite, not red Loctite.

Too late..

no biggy... usually a little light heat will help removal...

I've owned many harleys... I'm well versed in loctite... :evil

green loctite is a Biotch...

I got rid of the cheap little tin nut on mine. Took the IPR to Home Depot and found a nut that fit it. Can't remember what size it was.

Is it a common thing for the nut to fall off of these?

I've never really been down in there.... bought the truck new... in 95

I reckon the wiring harness and plug held the solenoid in place.....

I know,
I keep calling it a solenoid....

looks more like a coil of an old Meyer snow plow pump...

It is a little electromagnet that moves the actual valve back and forth. I allows more or less high pressure oil to go to the injectors.

What is a ipr valve

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It is the valve attached to the HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) that controls the oil pressure going to the Injectors. The injectors use this oil as hydraulic fluid to increase the fuel pressure from 60 psi to 20K or higher psi to atomize it before injection onto the cylinder.
