But most is probably poor maintenance, the 6.4 over all has to be the most poorly maintained engine I've seen. People think because they can handle / put out a lot of power they are impervious to poor maintenance. People who don't change their oil often, use poor quality filters and so on. Some could be from leaky pumps dumping fuel right on the cam below too. Mine looked great for having 229k plus miles on them, swapped them out just for piece of mind while I had it all apart.
