new to the army, posting from Kentucky. Here to meet some fellow diesel heads, here to help anybody with 7.3 builds and to learn more about this 17 6.7 I just got into

lol same, I have been around 7.3 all my life, built a pretty wicked 02 and sold it for my 6.7, starting to talk to some really good people on here. Glad to find honest people who are willing to help

There are some knowledgeable folks on the forum. Some no longer frequent though, but others still do.

I have spent 18 years of my life around 7.3 and took my driving test with one. I have owned them for about 14 years now.

Glad to finally find folks with the same passion for the old trucks as I have. I have had a few 7.3. My father had a beautiful obs when I was around 8 years old, but when he came home with that super duty, it was all over for me lol. After years and years of hard work I finally got my 6.7 I do love it but when I start to miss the 7.3 rumble I take the old farm truck out, creeping up on 400k has the self changing oil mod (oil cooler) really needs attention, gotta love em

Well the 7.3L is a oldy but goldy. I plan to always have a 7.3 around. My plan is to restore my 97 amd use it for my towing pickup. But things happen, that are out of our control. Time will tell.

I hear you on the new SD pickups. They are so refined compared to the old ones. Very nice indeed. The new engine and transmissions work so good together.

It’s unreal the difference in towing, we have the old reliable 7.3 and a 6.4 for farm trucks. 6.4 is built up some, pretty nasty

I hear you there, just moved from VT to KY, still some salt around here but nothing like vt. I was lucky to buy my 7.3 from an elderly couple that had relocated from Texas. I bought with 312,000 on it and not a lick of rust. I was blown away when I could back the original exhaust clamp nuts off with just a shot of PB blaster. Our old farm 7.3 on the other hand is a different story, she has the cab corner delete kit lol. Still runs strong though

Yes, and the suspension handles the loads so much better. They might not handle as much weight, but they make the weight feel like it's not there.

Figured I would post some pics of my last 7.3 the truck I kick myself for selling after I bought my 6.7. Was definitely pushing it on those powder metal rods and stock trans, never got to feel WOT on the hot tune, estimated 500 to the rear wheels

Irate diesel competition fuel pump and regulated return
Kc 66/73
Full force 238/80 hybrids
1023 custom tunes on hydra
S&B intake
4” straight pipe
And left her looking like a grandad truck

Loved seeing the look on peoples face when I pulled away like they were tied to a wall

Finally got myself a topside creeper, anybody that is on the fence….do it you won’t regret, making some progress on build. Ups man is going to know me by first name lol

We recovered all the top sides in a super thick leather with memory foam that's 3x as thick as original.

It helps cause we can be on those 6 hours a day

I will definitely be doing that, I spent a few hours on it today, chest was definitely alittle sore. Way better than tearing the knees up kneeling in engine bay. Wish I bought one years ago

It was the first tool I bought for side jobs. I've made it fit in the back of my grand prix even for out of state jobs. Paid for itself first job. Lol

Lol I bet that was a tight fit. I think I’ll be keeping mine here, will only be wrenching on projects that make it into our new shop lol
