They dont. The trucks running larger VGTs and twins are rebuilding. If youre wanting to upgrade you can keep it simple and safe with a 363 or 366 borg and proper tuning

The high cylinder pressures in the low rpm is what kills them. That's why these and the 6.4's last longer on stock components with a single on it. Of course, not everything lasts at a certain point. Single kit is a great upgrade and gets rid of the trouble some stock charger. If ya want a price on a kit, let me know!

One guy local had that one his truck for a month or 2 and blew the bottom end apart. I wouldn't run an add a turbo kit on the stock bottom end

I wouldn't put that kit on a truck regardless if it has a built motor or not. A local shop put that kit on a truck they built and nothing fit right and they had to do a lot of modifying to make it work. It's complete junk in my opinion.

What's the correlation between a larger vgt and blown engine?

I'm assuming he means that the larger vgt will have more torque down low compared to a non-vgt. Which might end up popping a rod, but with the right tuning it should be avoidable.

Correct, as stated before, stock chargers, modified stock vgt chargers, and big compounds have higher cylinder pressure in the lower RPM range. Yes they spool faster down low, but these stock rods and pistons cant take it. That's why single kits are so popular for guys who want a little more outta their stock bottom ends. They take a little bit longer to spool but when they do it's in the higher rpm range. If your going big compounds or modified stocker vgt turbos, better save your coin to do the bottom end cuz its not if it's when. That's if it hasn't already gone out. Duramax's boy's deal with the same issue.

Would a 4094 fall into the category of larger vgt? Or are you talking 70mm+ sizes?

I would consider it yes. I'm curious to see how the 4094 is going to hold up, it's an awesome charger and it's been proven over and over in various vehicles. Dmax's love them. Time will tell how these 6.7's will hold up with them.

VGT Chargers are designed for quick spool up, thus the variable vains on the turbine side. Quicker spool up = more boost down low = higher cylinder pressures in low rpm.

Now i'm not saying high cylinder pressure down low is bad, everyone want's a truck that comes outta the hole like a bat outta hell and pulls through out the RPM Range...why else upgrade your chargers, injectors, and such?...but...the stock bottom ends just can't the abuse of the quick spooling bigger chargers and or compounds. At least, not that I've seen.

I play with these. Pretty stinking reliable when built properly VGT is the only way to go. Like stated. Tuning is a must with understanding of CP. Two of these ABB turbos support 8180hp NG engines.

my cousin installed an II compound kit and to start it off, fitment was awful. pretty much every part needed to be cut, bent or ground to make it fit.

once it was finally installed, (the hood still wouldnt latch properly) he took it on a test drive .

after two times around the block (no pun intended) hello Mr. Rod.

absolute sh!t in my books
