So I have been working what was suppose to be my new "fun truck".

Its a 11/03 build 2004 f350 140k. Motor dated 2004 on the right valve cover. I bought the truck under the impression it needed head gaskets, injectors, and some other general stuff. Truck was sitting not touched for almost two years.

After changing the oil, filters, serp belt, checking fluilds, ect. It was running good. Figured I would take it for a ride and see how everything was. Well next day one of my work trucks breaks down at the start of the big snow storm we just had here. This truck ends up pushing snow for over 30 hours flawless. In the last two days I have put 600 miles on it towing around 8-9k through some good hills.

Truck was a gallon low on coolant to start with. Added another half gallon while plowing. Maybe some air pockets. Coolant level has not moved since. I don't think there is any issue with the head gaskets at all.

Now the injectors. When the truck is at running temps. It runs as smooth as can be. Like new. Cold start while plugged in is normal. Cold start (20-25 degrees) is another story. It actually fires up better then any other 6.0 I have, But smokes, shakes, with a good miss on at least 1-2 cylinders. It takes a good 10-15 minutes for the miss to go a way. Long after it goes to high idle.

warranty history only shows a few reflashes, last one in 05 I believe. And the manifolds/ up pipes changed late 07 at 75k. Is it safe to say the injectors are shot or is it just a striction issue that its worth trying some rev x or sea foam with?

If it runs good when warm, it is probably a stiction issue. Try some rev-x or AR9100, it's not going to hurt trying.

Whats the ar9100?

And does anyone have a link that explains injectors better. I am trying to figure out how to compare 155,175,190 with stock nozzles to 155,175 with larger nozzles. Just happen to be looking at the Warren Diesel rebuilds. Is a 155 with larger nozzles better then say a 190 with stock nozzles? What size are the stock injectors?

What's the ficm voltage?? What weight oil are you running? Check with Strokers runlimited I know they carry ar9100, so do a couple other sponsors. It's like rev-x but works better in some trucks.

Stock injectors are 135cc nozzle refers to how fast fuel is emptied. Depends on your overall goals for the truck but higher nozzles over a 155 usually require some type of fuel system upgrades.

Not sure what the goal with the truck is. I bought it thinking it needed major work. Was going to do head studs and shoot for around 600hp. Now i don't know. How far would 190s with stock nozzles get me with the right air?

And how do i check voltage to the ficm ?

Depends on tuning...with supporting mods 550-600 conservatively. I'm not very electrically inclined but there is a write up here somewhere on how to do it. Or a scangauge or AE can read it from the obII port.

AR9100 is another oil additive that in my opinion works better than rex-x ,I have used both and much better results with the AR9100, if you need some get with Adam at Strokes Unlimited he is a dealer for them and most of the time he has it at the shop. Oh and its cheaper than rev-x.
