Was a chevy guy, moved on to yota then decided if I'm going to have a truck then I should buy a real truck!

Just bought my first 2016 F350 platinum and loving it. This is my daily driver, I use it for work, is on pavement for the most part and tows my boat and trailer for my side x side. This truck is bone stock other than K&N filter and has the 3.55 rear end.

I negotiated hard with dealer and managed to get quite the discount and extended 6 year warranty at no cost. So what do you all recommend I could do that won't impact reliability, still be fun / comfortable to drive and give me an edge over stock? Not into being "seen" am more of the sleeper type.

I live in Canada and see temps in the range of -22 to 86 Deg F, would T6 with archoil oil and fuel additive be ok to use all year or do I need separate winter/summer oil changes?

TIA

start by ditching the K&N air filter.
Youre better off with a stock filter.

Do you plan/want to deeelete it (recommended) ?

What's your thoughts on keeping the paper filter over oiled?

I'm not biased on ******** but not until warranty's up or an issue with the EGR system. *** on tune maybe?

Good fuel/ additives or a mix of #1 diesel if you can find it for the winter. T6 is good oil, been running it for years.

I'm in Jackson Wy, and routinely see temps in the -30, -40 F. In the winter months.

Not true. Depends what province you're in.

I doubt he knows what a DeIete is.... let alone why you added so many E's to the word.

But good advice on ditching the KN and running stock!

Lol. Ok.

.... And you are in which province that thoroughly inspects emissions equipment?

Here in AB I have never seen anything remotely close to a thorough inspection. Worst I've seen is some shops won't certify a semi that has the emissions removed.

Welcome to the forum, always nice to see another Canadian here, I'm from mb myself. I ran some co-op brand 0w-40 synthetic in my 7.3 last year under recommendation of my hd mechanic friend/boss at the time and was very happy with it. Truck cold started to -20 when it was still quite humid without being plugged, never had a no start even at under -30 as long as it got plugged in at night. Now I'm in a 6.7 and will be doing an oil change here shortly come December and will be running 0w-40 again, the 6.7s are just a way better cold starter and never had any issues with them. My only recommendation, which my father learned from a ford mechanic who was working in thompson in the early 2000's when my dad was doing extensive miles in a 7.3, is too wait as long as possible to start plugging it in. All the sensors need to adjust to the cold first, then after that you'll never have any issues. As for power, it's hard to really do anything that will void your warranty. Tuners can be run with the stock emissions system, but a noticeable drop in fuel mileage will be had as more fuel will create more emissions and that system will have to work more often, so then it has to go, and dealers do not like working on ******d trucks. I have never ran any fuel additives in my trucks other then a low sulfur additive in the 7.3 and older farm equipment, never had any issue at all with water or stickiy injectors.
As for all those talking about smogs and emissions in Canada, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta do not have any legislature on it. Straight pipes and ******s are not illegal in the three provinces. Blacking out a stop light can get you a ticket yes, but other then that the systems can be removed (I found this through some searching before I got into the diesel game, this was a while back, if it has changed please correct me). However, Vancouver and the eastern provinces due have legislation very similar to that of the states where the vehicle cannot smoke for more than three seconds, bla bla bla. When it comes to emissions every province has been left to their own to decide what they want to do. I've heard rumors of some smog checks in Ontario, but nothing serious as of yet.

This is False. Op, what province are you in ? Also, as mentioned, keep the stock filter for now, and educate yourself on the options available.
