After this past weekend in Indy i've decided its time to sell everything i've got, and get myself something else. Not sure if i'm gonna build another truck, or get a car. I'm taking a big loss on this truck if i sell it, but oh well.
Its a 1997 F-250, ECLB, 4wd, auto, XLT, 4.10 gears. Grey cloth interior, 40/20/40 front seat. Interior is in decent shape, but its got the typical cracked dash, and the drivers seat is wore out(foam is broke down). The truck itsself has 207k miles.
Engine: 1997 engine with 120k miles. Came out of a wrecked truck, and was very clean when i bought it. I tore it apart, replaced every o-ring and gasket, except the head gaskets and rear main seal. Cleaned and painted the block. I then welded the cam gear, welded and modified the pick-up tube, added a Melling LPOP, installed 910 springs shimmed to 140lbs of seat pressure, installed new glow plugs, added Fel-Pro manifold gaskets and stainless bolts, as well as a few other small things. Its been in the truck for 2k miles. Injectors are 175/100%'s, roughly 14k miles on em. Turbo has 7k miles on a re-build, and currently has a SD wheel. Stock fuel and HPOP.
Transmission: 14k miles on a build from Unlimited Diesel, not sure where my receipt is, but its got a PI converter, Borg Warner clutches and steels, 6 pinion steel planetary, and a new valvebody(when it was built). I think its got a billet input, and the rest cyro treated, but not 100% sure.
Other mods: It has a quad pod with Autometer Z-series gauges; 60psi boost, 1600* pyro, and trans temp. Also has a blue Aeroforce scangauge. Last summer I installed a Pioneer DEH-P7400HD headunit. Not really mods but the fuel pump has 7k miles on it, water pump has 3k, and when i dropped the engine in i installed a brand new starter, alternator, and power steering pump. I have a set of the factory fiberglass steps, grey in color, ready to be installed as well.
The Bad: This is an older truck, so its got rust, dents, dings, and bruises. The passenger side of the hood is bent at the spring.
It does have an oil leak at the rear of the pan somewhere. Added a little over a quart so far in 2k miles.
Front driveshaft is currently not on it, when i had the engine out i pulled the shaft off and forgot to tape the u-joint caps, which fell off.
A/C is not hooked up, need new lines which are $70-80. Had no issues with it before i pulled the engine out.
Fan shroud is not on, trans cooler lines were in the way and i just haven't messed with re-routing them. Truck runs cool and no issues.
Passenger front lower shock mount is broke, driver side is bent. I've got 2 good ones ready to go on, just haven't had time to work on it.
Steering column has some slop in it, i've got a complete re-build kit from Ford.
Seems like its a lot of issues, but this thing is my DD, and i've had 0 issues driving it everyday since i've done the engine swap. Its a strong running truck, and recently averaged 18mpg's on the highway with the windows down and cruise set at 75. The truck drives nice and straight as well. Was in Indy at the NHRDA event this past weekend, ran around with the Holder group as well as some other forum members, and had zero issues. Its currently sitting on 285/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers with 24k miles, and i just installed a set of factory aluminum rims. I am keeping the rims but i can have the steel rims thrown back on it.
Price is $9500 as is, with all the parts i mentioned to fix it. For $11k i'll throw in my other parts, which include my old engine which is complete minus injectors and HPOP, Sterling 10.25 axle, set of 235/85/16 Firestone Transforce HT's with about 60% life left, and a whole other pile of parts. Think i've got a couple turbo pedestals, exhaust outlets, set of up-pipes and collector, and a few IPR's.
Pic of the bottom end of the new engine. Looks brand new.
