Need Help??

Ok my uncle has a 2004 6.0 f-250, going down the interstate and idleing it runs fine. once you get on the throttle it down shifts and revs to 3 grand and no higher, rolling out black smoke. he is pulling a 8x12 enclosed trailer with a dirtbike and tools in it, not a lot of weight at all. Also in park and when reved again it blows black smoke. He says it sounds like it has an exhaust leak when riding against a wall or big rig. Also when you tap on the cat converter it sounds like it has come apart. Possible Problem there?? Any ideas?

Also there are no updates, or tunes it also still has the EGR cooler.

When it downshifts and blows smoke every where is he making any boost? Could have a cracked up pipe. Also check all the boots under the hood connecting inter cooler pipes. If he has a bad leak you can climb underneath and there will be soot by where it is leaking.
