Hey guys I ran across a deal on a '06 xlt eclb with 62000 miles on it. It came with a transferable warranty that has bout 8000 miles left on it. My question is i have some cash burning a hold in my pocket and want to make this thing reliable. Deltas are 1.2*, ficm voltage is 48v cranking. Seems really healthy other than a dirty turbo I keep getting p0299 (was owned by an 85 year old man thinking it has been babied its whole life and am hoping it just needs the cobwebs blown out). Here is my plan for my first purchase:

4C3Z-9B246-F STC HPOP Fitting Update Kit
3C3Z-9T517-AG Blue Spring Kit
6C3Z-9T515-A Updated Oil Drain Tube
6E7Z-9A332-B Stand Pipe/Dummy Plu1g Kit
9C3Z-8101-B / RS-527 Degas Bottle Cap
3C3Z-9T516-A Turbo Feed Line
5" Exhaust
Cts
S&B intake
Egr Delete
Studs

I would assume it has the ford gold sh!t since I have the full service records from day one. With a coolant flush at 48000. I will be replacing that, is a coolant filter needed? Ive read mixed reviews. What am I missing before I throw a tuner at it? Im hoping I can do studs head on one at a time? or is a stock babied truck still worth having the heads checked out? This is my first 6.0 and I'm liking it so far.

Most will suggest getting the heads checked for reassurance beings it's a PITA job to do twice. Has the egr ever been replaced? Have you checked it? I'd say if you're comfortable doing the work yourself and time isn't a problem remove the heads have em checked and go from there

The egr has never been replaced I ordered a full delete kit for it though so I'm not worried.

I would add an oil cooler rebuild, and a coolant filter...
I personally would not to studs 1 at a time, there are people out there who have had success doing them this way, but if your going that deep into the truck, why not just pull the heads and get them checked. Its certainly the right way to do it. I would also add injector deals and copper washers, 6.4 banjos, and an SCT tuner. just my .02

I will look into that once I get the preliminary step out of the way which is the stuff I listed above I will be building it in stages. I ordered all the parts above last night. Next week will hopefully be innovative custom tunes. Then next paycheck will be air mods thinking a mtw stage three or a 66 non vgt haven't decided. Then the following paycheck will be 225s and fuel supply and reg return. Then the following paycheck will be traction bars, reverse level and fuel hostages 20x12 with 420s. Is there anything I'm missing or should throw in or consider?

if your going in to do the egr delete, the oil cooler should be done at that time...you pretty much are pulling the intake manifold anyway...

Alright intake manifold and oil cooler is on the list... Is replacing it just cheap insurance? Also was gonna rebuild the turbo while I pulled it apart for cleaning. I see a rebuild kit and a 270 and 360 degree thrust what is the degree of thrust bearing? Are there benefits?

360 thrust is better and can handle more abuse. stock is 270, upgraded is 360. basically, 100% of thrust load on 2/3 of the surface area will wear out faster than 100% thrust load on 100% surface area.

Thank you I appreciate it. Looks like 360 it is.

Found a treat when I pulled the turbo a part for the p0299.

Lots if pitting and rust cleaned up pretty good. Is that abnormal? I feel a new turbo is in order
