Have an excursion in right now with a no start issue- I am tending to think it is electrical here is what i have found so far:

new batteries
Unpluged icp-still no start
replaced icp & IPR- still no start
-ICP harness was clean

truck had new short block installed appx 30k ago (little more than a year)
with that was a new HPOP, FICM, and front cover, and new cam and crank sensors

Here is what gets me: Truck has been running great, no rough idles, hard starts, anything, truck has been 110%. Owner drives it to work on day, no issues. Around lunch time he hits the remote start truck fires up...as he starts walking towrds the truck it shuts off...no restart.

I beleive its electrical because the truck has been running and starting with no issues. suggestions?

So your are just guessing and throwing parts at it? Whats the data showing?

not guessing, there are no codes being thrown, so i was starting with some of the items i thought might be a little more common. Ficm voltage shows 48v while cranking, IPR volage is good, i am waiting to get a better scanner in as i only have my SCT at the moment. I beleive the fuel system is in working order, pulled the filter and the bowl filled up with ko/io

going off what parts i knew where in replaced in the truck.

What is stumping me is that there where no issues with the truck, and just randomly doesnt start after running great. not a no hot start issue..or a cold start issue...

goign to do injector test today..

Ah, gotcha, you need a better scanner for sure.

Yeah need ICP numbers, you can monitor that with your SCT too. Download SCT's live link from their website and get a labtop.

I didn't see a year on the truck, but being excursion they're most likely all the old high pressure oil systems right?

might want to disconnect the remote start and see what happens...those things can cause issues...

we tried that, i thought that might have been the issue but seems that its not.

tried scanning truck last night with my sct and live link, but had little help. Looks like we will be ordering AE software today. In the mean time im hoping a friend will be able to get over today and scan it for me.

No smoke is usually a clear indicator the injectors are not firing at all, so either FICM, or high pressure oil system. You can check the FICM easy enough to rule that out and if you turn the key and hear the injectors buzz it's likely that's not the issue. My guess is HPOP at this point, but you wont really know until you get a monitor on it and watch ICP. Let us know how you make out. I don't know how I lived without AE for so long!

i have a friend comming over tonight to hook up the computer, an i agree not sure how i have gotten by without any type of scan software, il be ordering ae for sure today.

i originally ruled out the HPOP because its got less than 30k on it, that why i went after the ICP and IPR first because the HPOP was changed at for so i really figure they reused the sensors..the dealer he went to is less then good to say the least.

and Ficm was done around the same time.

Could be LPOP too, not feeding any oil up to the HPOP. When you're cranking does the low pressure gauge come up at all? It might take a few seconds of cranking for it to come up. Better yet would be an oil pressure gauge, since it only needs like 3psi for that factory gauge to come up. I know this sounds stupid too, but have you checked the actual oil level? What oil filter and oil filter cap are on it? I've seen some aftermarket one's cause a no-start condition too. Maybe the guy just changed his oil?

Just shooting in the dark, obviously AE will be much quicker at diagnosing. Check for FICM SYNC when you get the labtop on it.

Another thing to try for fun... pull off the intercooler pipe on the drivers side and try starting. No air will cause the same problems. Does this model happen to have the butterfly valve in the intake manifold below the intake elbow too? Sometimes those stick and cause no start too.

In this business, assume nothing. Always confirm or deny a parts condition for yourself. thats the best advise i can give you.
