Do they make such a thing? i have a 4" offset ball for a B&W turnover ball hitch and am looking for similar for the factory ford gooseneck hitch. The reason I need this is because I'm buying a new truck and the local dealer has found a truck that is exactly what I would order other than it has the factory ford hitch. I can't fit a crew cab long bed in to my garage so I have to buy a crew cab short bed. With a tool box in the bed, it doesn't leave much room between the GN ball and the toolbox. When I get on uneven ground with a trailer, it can get very close to the toolbox without the offset. Thanks guys.

Smaller tool box, bigger garage, etc... I had the b&w with offset ball on a 2012 crew cab short bed dodge and used it with great success. I'm sure someone has something out there that I just haven't found yet.

Stupid question... offset ball? Can you not just install a standard hitch a few inches closer to the back of the truck, is there clearance issues? Does the way the offset ball mounts somehow negate the impact of where the max weight sits in relation to the rear axle?

I think this is what he's talking about. Moving most hitches 4" aft, forward, or sideways is likely not gonna happen.

We're it me, I'd wait until what I wanted made itself available or live with something marginally less acceptable.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. That's what I've always used in the past. I don't know that moving the hitch itself back is a great idea. I believe they also make offset necks for gooseneck trailers which would set the neck back. I'm not pulling an RV or 5er, just gooseneck trailers for farm and construction use.

Agreed. Maybe I should cut a hole in the back of the garage big enough to fit a long bed truck!:cursing:
