I just changed the oil on my new to me excursion. I thought I had the factory cap because it is not the tall one, looks like the Ford one and has the NM torque spec stamped into it. The new filter instructions say 25 NM and everything I found online says 25 NM... but my cap is stamped 40 NM. My only question is: Do all the factory Ford caps say 40, or do I have the wrong cap?

When you loosened and took off the cap was there still oil standing and draining from the oil filter housing?

I just bought a new motorcraft cap two days ago and put it on. It says 40 nm. I am a moron and I had changed my oil using a motorcraft filter but did not realize the truck had a pos Napa giant cap. I finally noticed it did not look right and went and got the right cap at ford.
