Yes. Even if you hit oil temps in the 230 240 range. It's literally a mental ordeal with millions of people. Rather be safe than sorry. And that I will not Knock. If a man wants to change at 5k intervals... change away! But it is good to know it's ok and the block agrees! I truly do understand folks wanting to change early. A fella drops a golden brick for a very nice truck and the only thing in his control for comfort to keep his mind happy is to change the oil! Every man has that same disease!! Heck I'm liable to drop mine in another 7500 just because. But I'll probably go 10-12k with sampling. And can seriously go further. I want to point out as much as possible that long change intervals are strictly for DeIeted trucks. And even on DeIeted trucks oil sampling is wise. The biggest concern will be finding a premature coolant issue or condensate (h2o). I have a little generator in my fleet that gets no load and runs weekly for 30 minutes. 165kw gen set that I regularly or should say annually get a bad oil sample on... and it's water... condensate. Not coolant. Caught by oil sampling. I can load bank it and run the PISS out of it and the water well steam out and the sample can come back good. But we generally just change the oil. 10 gallons. Done.
