Got a leaking oil pan and was curious if I jack up the motor if I can get the oil pan out. Trying to do this without pulling the motor. Any suggestions ?

Hi, it's extremely tough to do it the right way and not have it leak if going with the RTV.
Now Moroso makes a gasket that some have said they have managed to do it in the truck. Pan rot out?

It's tricky doing it with RTV because once the pan is off oil will run down the inside of block and curl onto sealing surface. Pan is big and awkward in a real tight area and when you get it close an oil line might have run down and curl onto sealing surface and if you don't pull this awkward pan back out and deal with it because you didn't see it or after dealing with it and getting pan back in another runs down.
You have a perfect surface and a perfect bead on pan but when trying to get back in but it hits the block and smears.
Have you confirmed for sure the pan is leaking and not something from up top washing down? The passenger side fuel line has a mid ship on head bracket that wears thru the line and can was old oil down.

Pan isn't rotting out. And I'm sure it's not a fuel line because my truck has a full fuel system and doesn't have any of the factory fuel lines. I can pull the motor and fix the leaks that way I was just seeing what my options were and trying to keep from having to pull it

You can unbolt the cab, then I usually put a 2x4 and a 4x4 under each of the 4 cab corners and frame. Plenty of room to do the job correctly if its an automatic. If its a stick the trans has to come out.

Man I'll have to try this on the next one. I've always pulled the engine.

I've done a ton of em like that its tried and true!! Only problem I've ever ran into is the occasional broken cab bolt.

for the time it takes to do all the trick to not pull the motor, the motor can be out and on a stand.
All the time and tricks? Id rather spend 3 hours to do the pan than a day or 2. if the cab bolts aren't scary pop the fan off jack up the motor and the pan falls right out. But if the engine needs to be overhauled or you need something to do, I'm with you on pulling the motor.

Only way to do it *THE RIGHT WAY* is to remove the engine, flip it, and seal it. Let it sit for a day then reinstall. Ford Grey RTV and call it good.

I have never pulled the motor for an oil pan unless it is an Econoline and also never had one leak after.... I worked at the dealer for 13years and never saw anyone pull engine to do an fseries pan, even though the by the book way is engine out. The RIGHT WAY is to have it not leak when done, there is more than one way to do it. I'm just surprised everyone is saying pull the engine, not trying to stir it up lol.

What about the front cover ? I have to reseal it also I think it's leaking and surprises that I should look for there other than getting a new crank seal

If you take the front cover off you will have to do the oil cooler gasket as well, might as well take the cooler out and re o-ring it
