Now , Is this right ?????

Heads nipped up (not torqued) on OEM gasket which measured around .087 thick
piston TDC on compression stroke, valves on # 1 cylinder held in place with test springs. Push down on rocker by hand and I get around .090 of travel before contact. Now if the OEM gasket has a quench .060 I take .027 of the .090 which gives me around .057 of piston to valve clearance.

Factory specifications for valve recession into the heads are: 0.046-0.058" for Intake and 0.052-0.064" for Exhaust

Factory specifications for Piston protrusion are: 0.010-0.031"

If you use your 0.060" compressed gasket thickness of 0.060" - then you will have 0.075-0.108" piston to valve clearance for the intake and 0.081-0.114" piston to valve clearance for the exhaust.

All of this is of course if you are building to factory specifications.

Factory specs blow ;)

thanks guys. Heads have had new inserts and machined to spec although the deck to deck is a little undersize. Pistons have been decked for .025 protrusion. So all is good

Wanted to get dimensions that Jason posted up. Machine shop is handling it, but I can't stay out the process. Need to check valve recess into head. .029 pistom protrusion, .010 taken off head and pistons. Kinda close I think.
