Hi all, first post on here. I have a 2001 f250 7.3 with 224,000 on it. I looked under it the other day to see where it was leaking power steering fluid and it looked like it was dripping off of the pump, but the pump is only 3 months old. I sealed the line going into the pump with thread lock to make sure it wasn't the fitting. Is it possible that I overfilled the res and now it's splashing around as I drive? Or is the 3 month old pump really leaking? Thank you in advance

Check the lines to the hydro-boost brakes. If that line or the return line are leaking it'll seep down the hose to the pump and appear to be leaking from there. I'd also have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while you're looking under the hood to see if you can see seeping. Finally, the ford reservoirs are only sealed to the pump with a single o-ring. I have seen them fail out of the box...

Thank you, I tried sealing the fitting with thread lock and instead of having a puddle of fluid under the truck it's down to a few drops. I'm gonna give it a few more days to see if the dripping stops since it made such a mess. I'm hoping I don't have to replace the pump again...

But I've heard that if you over tighten the line that it breaks the seal in the pump, so could the thread lock be enough to seal it? I tried cleaning it the best I could to see if it was still leaking but it's a mess

I'm gonna keep an eye on it to see if it's still leaking over the next few days. I'll follow up on here if it's still leaking. Thanks for the help
