Ok, I really need to get some pictures to get this up, but at least by me posting this I will hopefully remind myself to get pics later...

I've been noticing a strange spray of oil on the underside of my hood, and I have no idea where it is coming from. It is on the drivers side of the hood, up near the headlight (almost looks like it's from the powersteering pump reservoir???) but the bump cap looks dry!? It's a MESS. Definitely looks like it's being sprayed up to the underside of the hood, the front of the air filter housing is covered in oil, part of the headlight is getting it now, and the front of the battery. Nothing really seems to be wet down below there, and I'm not sure where or more importantly... WHY it's doing this. Doesn't seem to do it all the time. I drove the truck home from work the other day and it smelled a little like something burning... thought it was brakes at first. Opened the hood and the oil mess has grown. Any thoughts? I will try and get some pictures tonight to get up, but not sure I'll be home before dark.

Thanks.

Could be your inter cooler boots leaking at high boost and spraying it. Mine leaks a little on that side and once in a while I gotta wipe up some oil .

I have a boost gauge, boost seems normal, but now that you mention once it comes up above 13-15psi I can hear a leak, I was just assuming it was the coolant cap honestly... it's not the normal tea kettle whistle, but I just wrote that off to it being a napa coolant cap. Hmmm. I guess this is a good justification for buying the metal tube upgrade! Seems like a lot of oil though and I can't believe it shoots straight up like that and plasters the hood. Interesting. Thanks guys!

There's no boot there Chris, just the stupid plastic tube that slips over and is clamped down, easy to see how it leaks now. It will be replaced with the metal pipe and new boots from FERD. I think the kit is only like $115 for all of it including clamps. Not too shabby.

Oh I gotcha, I forgot about the POS plastic intercooler tube. Mine came with it from the factory, but it was replaced when it was new with the metal one due to a TSB.

Yeah, not exactly the smartest design there... though this is kind of a good find, means I'm not really pushing coolant. I'll still get some pics, really strange the oil spray pattern up on the hood...

Just ordered this finally!

I'm thinking I might have this and my passenger side pipe PC'ed a gloss black or something before I throw it on there. I'll be out of town all next week (in Vegas! WOO HOO!), so the truck will be sitting in the driveway anyways, be a good time to get it done. I've got spare tubes for each side in case I do need to drive it too. I upgraded the passenger side from the crunched down dual alt version, the the regular non-crunched single alt version too.

I just did the metal pipe upgrade, had mine PC'ed and hydro-coated.

Have you checked your power steering pump lines ect?

I have and I can't see anything come out of there... plus I have a loud hissing noise as soon as I hit about 13psi of boost, and it only gets louder as I get more boost, so boost leak makes sense. The tube should have been in friday, but I'm on vacation right now, I'll let you know sometime next week if it fixes the problem or not!

my local dealer, informed me that these are no longer available...

i had a truck come in with a 3" body lift, they never modified the piping for the lift.

the boots on the drivers side, and that plastic pipe were kinked down to 1/3 they're normal size...:fustrate:

i used a cfm kit,and modified it...

mdub let me know if your still able to get these from ford?
