Looking for a royal purple oil dealer. I already run this oil, but IIRC it is costing me about $200 just for oil. Just wondering if i could find a better price somewhere else. Thanks.

Holy crap! $200 for the oil! I've never seen any OA reports on the engine oil, but their gear oils etc never seemed to fare too well. How does the truck run with it?

I have the Bullet Proof Diesel external oil cooler and engine oil bypass filter, I run royal purple hps, I change my filters at 5000 miles then change the oil at 10000 miles. After 3 years i have no problem at all with stiction or any other oil related issue's.
Now that i know Matt is a dealer i would support his personal business long before summit or jegs.

Holy crap dude.... for $155 you can buy and ship 4 gallons of Amsoil, AND buy a $20 yearly "Preferred Member" membership.

And IMHO.... Amsoil is better quality anyway.

DME1G-CA Syn Premium Diesel Oil 15w-40 (4 Gallon Jugs) $113.40,
Shipping/Tax: ~$23
Yearly "Preferred Membership" $20

What is a preferred member? I dont mind running amsoil, i just run royal purple because it was available at the time i was ready to buy.

My truck runs great on it. However, the orginal owner ran crap oil i think, because i am starting to have stiction issues. I am on my 9000 mile mark, and for the past 400 miles i get a shudder when cold, until i reach operating temp. So, i am going to change the oil and throw in some archoilar9100 for support.

Matt, will you PM me a price shipped to 93390? Also, if you have archoil, some of that as well.

Whoops. Yea, i have an 06 6.0. I usually just run motorcraft oil filters because they are readily available, but i dont really mind as long as its a direct replacement.

I usually buy 5 gallons, and have a little bit left over. That might be worth it.

Im not using all the five gallons. I always end up using about 4.5 gallons. Thats me filling it to the max line, running the truck for a few seconds, then topping off. I have a half gallon of royal purple in my garage right now actually.

You let it sit for 10-15 minutes first so the oil can settle?

After i change the oil, i will typically check it the next morning. So i guess you can say i let it sit overnight.

I usually only put 14 quarts in, despite it "needing" 15. Can't even tell the difference on the dip stick.

It's so hard to say what does and doesn't cause stiction. My buddy went over 250k miles on his 05 6.0 running 15w-40 rotella with no additives and had all 8 original injectors. He finally got stiction in one of them around the 280k mark. Seems hit or miss on some trucks.

You should really only be running a Motorcraft/International/Racor oil filter.

I have only used motorcraft. But i also bought the truck with 44k on the clock, and a lot of engine hours. It was a los angeles truck, and im pretty sure the person who owned it before me had a landscape company, so im sure it was idled a lot as well.

At any rate, i dont know the service record on the truck, so i dont know how well it was maintained.
