Came back from towing over 2k miles with a GN trailer, probably over 22k GVW. Some questions.....this is on a totally stock 2016 F350 Dually.

1. I know that Tow/Haul mode stretches out the shift points. Does it change the tuning? If you're cruising in 6th gear, does it matter if it's in Tow/Haul mode or "regular"?

2. Had the trailer brake controller maxed out to 10. Wanted the trailer brakes more aggressive. I had max effort checked off in the display. Yes, I adjusted the trailer brakes before I left. Did I miss something?

Thanks

I have a 2012 6.2 gasser and I don't use the tow haul button because when I do it sounds like the engine is going to blow up rpm rev so high. I like my 2002 7.3 no tow haul button and pull nice at low rpm's

1. Good question never take it off tow haul. If the gear is holding too long or I don't want it to downshift I put it in manual.
2. Something is up. I have mine set to 7-8 depending on the day and it stops the trailer good. I leave the dash set to medium or whatever the middle one is.
I would check the voltage out of the plug along with see of the brakes ground through the trailer to the hitch or through the trailer plug.

I can't recall, what did you tow with before?
If it didnt have an integrated controller they take some getting used too. They don't tug on you like the add on ones.

They do take a little to get use too. If you can lock the brakes up I would turn it down some. You can still shock the brakes with the integrated controllers.

Billy, I know the 6.0 is totally different, but just to chime in, the integrated controller does take some time to get used to, I too feel that the gain/boost isn't as soon as the add ons, but I've gotten used to how to make the adjustments, and am fine with it now, again, completely different tuck, just thought I'd throw out my opinion

Have you checked if you need to adjust your drum brakes on the trailer?

I didn't check mine, but it gets looked at pretty regularly. I can't see it being out that much all of a suddenly, but chit does happen. It's on the list.

Most of the time with a load on my GN I run it around that 6.5-8 range and seems decent but it doesn't pull on the truck. Heavy loads I'll put it up to 10. Empty I normally run it 4.5-5.
