spare tire install???

So i officially feel like an idiot now... the spare tire has not been under my truck for two years now...
i bought the eye bolt I was missing to put it up under the truck and thought I could just throw her in there...
I cant get the spare tire to fit into the black plastic piece attached to the bar... am I missing something here???? maybe a picture would help? :morons:

You have to UNSCREW the black plastic piece. Then lay the tire on the bar. Spin the black plastic piece back on to the 3/8' bolt. The push the bar back up and put the eye bolt thru it

ive found using oxy-acetylyne torch does not work well for this.

ya, thats what i did... weird though, i didnt remember taking it apart that far... guess i just got a bad memory. Thanks though
