stock 4r100 issue

my buddy has 01 sd with the 4r100 the issue is when he puts it 4wheel drive and turns off the overdrive the light blinks and from time to time the engine shuts down. do you guys know what would be wrong

codes?

It could be a lot of different things. The only way to know is to get the codes read. The places that read codes free cannot read the codes that you need.

Then either the light didn't flash and there is nothing wrong or he used the wrong tool to try and read the codes.

you need a real scan tool.

he uses a superchips tuner to read codes. by the way the truck still has the issue the only code is the air temp (its bad), he took it auto zone they saw the same thing

Because autozone has ****ty scantools....

You need something like AE or snop on modis....
