I have a 2014 6.7 and it makes a strange sound when idling. Kinda a gear train noise? I'll post a video of it.

Jk I can't get a video to upload. Too big. I'll post it to a 3rd party site ASAP

Its kind of hard to hear what exactly you're talking about..sure its not the "typewriter" noise that these engines are famous for?

It's more pronounced from 10 seconds on. It sounds like a whine, kinda the way a turbo sounds when it's not hooked to piping and just blowing to atmosphere, or a quiet hair drier.

Anyone got a video that shows this sound well so I can compare?

it is not the typewriter noise and i can definitely hear it. Could be a gasket leaking. Does it change with rpm? or with boost.

I can't gear it at all if I rev at all, and now today it's not doing it. It's very intermittent.

Sounds like either the primary fuel filter is not all the way tight, or the wastegate harness buzzing. Does it buzz when shut off?

After you shut it off. It can happen up to thirty seconds after shut off. There is a tsb for it, just a pretty common thing ive seen a bunch. Check the fuel filter too. 1 1/4 socket, it may be about a turn loose.

I had this issue. It actually ended up just going away on its own. Read a few threads on here about it. Called it the turbo fart.
