Stupid trans question

This sounds really dumb, but which trans do I have? 03 f250 6.0 ccsb FX4.
Everything I can find says 99-03 7.3 is 4r and 04-07 6.0 is the 5r. What about the 03 6.0? Tried finding on my VIN and the body tag, but everything I find to decode those is even more confusing. I need to know which I have so I can see about ordering a new trans.

Its the 5r but u can count ur shifts if u want.

That's the problem. The trans isn't shifting correctly.

That works. But I believe it being a 6.0, means it was never offered with a 4r.

its the 5R, what was in my 03 6.blow, and tore the pan off that truck way to many times

Next question, any recommendations on where/who to go for a new trans? I'm thinking a built/heavier duty trans to avoid these problems in the future. Might as well get one to handle future plans so I don't have to buy a 3rd one.

Wait until Monday when Dorian is back in town and talk with him. He said he has someone local that can build one when mine goes for a good price but i didn't get too far into details other than having one built.

The best way to identify it is that the ONLY automatic ever offered with the 6.0L engine was the 5R110 TorqShift. The 4R100 was never mated to the 6.0L engine.

fwiw...I'm getting a built trans from Warren diesel (I think its being ordered today actually) that will hold 700hp all day for a pretty killer price. watch for a review once I get it put in...might be another option for you
