I know everyone talks about how important the flatness of the heads/block are for gasket prep, and the minimum thickness required on the head, but what about surface finish? Is there a spec for this at all? If not, what is a good machine shop practice on a part like this?

50Ra or finer is the surface finish we recommend with the MLS gaskets

It's probably one of those things most guys just pretend don't exist and hope for the best. I don't want to take the heads off of this truck again. I want to do this once and do it right.
