Any tips and tricks are appreciated, putting a new converter in on saturday. Seems pretty straight forward but easy to screw up at the same time. Thanks Y'all!
Filling the converter first just makes a big mess when half of it spills out. There is no reason to fill the converter before installing it.

I still don't understand why people think it is necessary to fill or even partially fill the converter before installing. It won't hurt anything, but what will it help?Lol yeah let me clarify... Not that I think any person here would be so dumb to do so, but don't fill the converter to the brim. Dump in a quart and walk away. Always fill before you install

Yes, the converter is designed to slip in every gear. That is what a torque converter does. If the conditions are right the PCM will command the converter to lock and there is no more slip.Mark I've been meaning to ask you is it possible a converter will slip in 5th. If it downshifts 6-5 something slips until it shifts to 6th. Usually 1-2-3-5-6 it won't slip (little flare maybe) the converter shudders when the trans is could so I'm assuming the converter is slipping.
